Iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve stars, for one and only time, in a Christmas Special on Greek television. The show is directed by Vassilis Vlahodimitropoulos and written by Kostas Panagiotopoulos.
This Christmas Special show, produced in 1991, takes a more surreal, and somewhat bizarre turn. She (Catherine Deneuve), is a nameless woman with a radiant presence, full of passion and joy. He (Stratos Tzorgoglou) is an elusive young man, with a strong and demanding personality, who goes by the name of Alexander – could it be the eponymous Alexander the Great? They are mysterious, they are beautiful, and they represent the Divine and the human essence that merge together at Christmas time. But this Christmas eve, they will tell us their secrets…
The film includes footage of Catherine Deneuve’s visit to Athens that year, footage of a dramatized text performance by Deneuve and actor Stratos Tzorgoglou, at the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Mount Lycabettus and at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), as well as songs performed by the popular Greek performers Eleni Vitali, Tania Tsanaklidou, Eleni Dimou and Konstantina in the studios of ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation).
